Notification Procedure

This procedure is also referred to as the “Prior written approval procedure”, as it involves obtaining certain agreements before waste movements may begin.

As this procedure deals mainly with hazardous waste, the underlying issues and concerns are different from those covered by the information procedure.
The objective of the notification procedure is to provide the competent authorities with detailed information so that they may judge the suitability of the waste processing option chosen, as well as the technical capacities of the destination facility.

As part of the notification procedure, the PNTTD reviews the following types of case files :
 export files which are submitted via GISTRID
 import files which are forwarded to us by the competent authorities in the country where a given waste shipment originates
