The shipments of plastic waste are, like all transfers of waste, subject to precise international regulations.

Shipments (exports) of plastic waste for recovery abroad are subject to the following requirements :

- (CE) regulation 1013/2006 of 14 June 2006 regarding the shipment of waste,

- and (CE) regulation 1418/2007 of 29 November 2007 regarding the export of certain types of waste for its recovery.

Depending on the destination, exports of plastic waste may be subject to additional requirements set by the country of destination.

Here are 2 examples :

To Malaysia

The information procedure applies and the request must be accompanied :

  • by the import authorisation of the treatment facility in Malaysia. See the model by clicking here : my licence importation (format pdf - 355.3 ko - 17/04/2020)
  • by an authorisation issued by the Malaysian Ministry of Solid Waste Management prior to each transfer (“Approval permit” or “epermit”), written in Malaysian and English. See the model by clicking here : my epermit (format pdf - 239.3 ko - 17/04/2020)

To Indonesia

The information procedure also applies here. But in addition, a certificate must be drawn up prior to each transfer by a body accredited by the Indonesian authorities (click here for an example : id accreditation (format pdf - 26.3 ko - 17/04/2020)
